Well on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 Emilie turned 8 months old. She is STILL growing and is now 30 inches long and 19 pounds. We laid her big brother, Taylor, down beside her and he isn't much longer. 4 more inches and Emilie will be as long as Taylor was when he was 2 years old.
Last week we went through the disappointment and fear of another collapsed lung. This is the second time this has happened to Emilie since she was born. Please keep this in your prayers. On that same very day, I signed papers for VitalAire (the company that is supplying all her equipment). I was told that the only thing they were waiting for was the payment from the government and then they can release the equipment to us. Please pray that this will be fast. We all know how the government can be. We would like to start taking Em out on Day passes.
On Saturday, we didn't know if we would make it in to Saskatoon at all this weekend. We were awakened at about 10:30am by two police officers. Our car had bit hit and the driver took off. See pictures above. We are hoping they will find the person that did this so that we don't have to pay the $700.00 deductible. That is a lot of money around Christmas time. . . even the $100.00 for the downpayment on the payment plan is a lot of money around Christmas time, but we need the car to go to Saskatoon and both Darwin and I still have to work. We are also hoping that maybe the car would just be written off because we will really need a van when Emilie does come home. Her equipment will never fit in that little car. Maybe this is all just an answer to prayer. God works so mysteriously. . . we never know.
Emilie is moving more and more. She is really trying to move that head. She moves it whenever she can. She also knows how to move her trach just right to make noise. If she can make noise, she will make it as much as she can. She is smiling more and more and now has a total count of 3 full teeth and one that probably came out this morning. It should be out this week. This one is bothering her a lot and is taking its time making an appearance.
Anyway, I gotta get going. I have to get ready for work. Please keep praying for these things. God is sure wonderful. 20 or 30 years ago Emilie would never have survived. With the present day technology, which God had a hand on no doubt, they are able to keep this bright little girl alive. She is very smart. Thanks for all of your prayers. God surely is listening. Please don't get discouraged. PUSH - Pray Until Something Happens.
Also please pray for our meetings. We have a meeting with Home Care on Thursday, December 14 and a Family conference with the doctors at the hospital on Wednesday, December 27. Please pray that God will have a hand on these meetings. That His will will prevail over these meetings. That negativity and discouragement will have no place at these meetings as they have in all the past meetings. Thanks everybody. We love each and everyone of you...so does Emilie.
Love,
Darwin, Sherri, Taylor, and especially Emilie
